As a classic tube choice of Audio Note, “6072” dual triodes are employed at the center of the amplification circuit. G-72i is built with high-quality KONDO original components. The electrical and sound performances were refined through circuit design and extensive listening tests, to fully harness its potential.
Achieving the highest specifications same as all KONDO line preamplifiers, G-72i delivers rich musical expression across a wide range of genres. It will make your time with music even more cherished and rewarding.

The vacuum tube 6072
6072 is well known for its natural and emotional expressions.
It was once used inside condenser microphones. Loved its tonal merits so much, Mr. Kondo started to use the 6072 on many legendary models such as the M7 and the ONGAKU since the beginning of Audio Note.
Carrying on this tradition, we have long history of using it in the line stage of our preamps and in the input stage of our power amplifiers.
Together with the power tube 211, 6072 is one of the icons for KONDO amplifiers.
The G-72i uses 4 pieces of 6072 to construct the whole line preamplification circuit.

Line Amplification Section, module GL7
Line amplification module GL7 is used in G-72i.
GL7, which is the same module in the higher model G-700i, provides excellent audio performance and usability through 4 important designs.
1. 2 pieces of 6072 are used for each channel. Each 6072 is used in parallel connection. This design significantly improved the sound quality and stability.
2. Capacitor groups are carefully distributed along left and right channels so that the signal loops are shortened as much as possible. This design delivers outstanding micro-dynamic and S/N ratio.
3. Cutoff frequency is designed as 18.5Hz at 20kΩ loads. For the best matching with low input impedance power amplifiers, such as solid-state amplifiers.
4. Being a module carrying almost the full line amplification circuit. It sets out a strong foundation for our engineers to scale up or fine tune the performance systematically. In addition, a modular design highly improves the product qualities through better production and maintenance efficiencies.
Heater power circuit
We discovered that dual triode such as 6072 or 12AX7 sounds better with lower heater voltage. But the supply current must be increased accordingly.
Therefore G-72i heater power circuit was re-designed.
The heater operating voltage was changed from 12.6V (G-70i) to 6.3V, with the supply current doubled up.
This strong heater power circuit is built with metal can type transistors 2N2222A and 2N3055G working in a Darlington configuration, achieving a spacious soundstage and vibrant sound.
Ultra High Quality Components
Every component used in the G-72i is ultra-high quality.
1. KONDO original components: pure silver foil capacitors (ZRP 8 series), pure silver lead resistors, SSW internal wiring, pure silver shielded wire, silver-palladium plated RCA jacks, zirconia vacuum tube sockets etc.
2. KONDO custom made components: custom-made electrolytic capacitors, custom-made power transformer etc.
3. Other premium quality parts: High-grade volume, copper main chassis etc.
All parts were carefully chosen after massive hours of listening tests.
Aesthetics of the new G-72i faceplate
The faceplates of Kagura power amplifier and G-1000i preamplifier are the images of new KONDO generation.
It started 12 years ago since the release of the first Kagura power amplifier at year 2013.
The low profile, clean layout give clam feeling.
The curved face creates shadow and mild reflection onto the well-arranged panel.
It is a grand and timeless design.
Keeping the original aesthetics spirits, our engineer designed the 2nd generation faceplate for the G-72i.
It gives the same clean, gentle atmosphere yet improved the interaction with lights.
It is very suitable for putting inside an audio rack with lighting came from the top.
This new faceplate design will be shared with the phono amplifier GE-2i to create a systemic feeling.
