Proposing KONDO system for the
millennium

A cup of coffee in the morning makes us
feel refreshed. When, sounds stimulate our
five senses with refreshing music, we may call
it a time of supreme bliss.

I believe that a speaker system has some of hardest technical problems of all audio components, because the solutions can often be contrary to each other.

For instance, when we want to obtain a large sound capacity, we have to design a speaker with large diameter and a multiple configuration. This necessarily requires a large space, and if we divide speaker frequencies to a couple of sectors, driven by respective drivers, the sound gets worse, because phase matching near crossover point do not work well. So, we try to reproduce the entire frequency range with a single diaphragm, but then low and high frequencies will be of poor quality. On the other hand, a smaller system is better as it will not be obstacle to the sense of vision.

My solution to these problems is based on my ideas develop over 45 years of audio research and engineering.

In order to make an enclosure smaller, I plan to use a 12cm full range driver unit. As a small diameter driver has less in rigid diaphragm, I will change it to a pure silver diaphragm which is heavier than the customary materials and so has to be backed up by a powerful magnetic circuit. Its magnet will be Alnico type which produces a soft sound. Next, I will also lay out two drivers in parallel in order to improve acoustic reflective index. Then a network system is not necessary for the audible frequency range. Low frequency reproduction is to be assumed by exclusive woofers which were unlike the old 3D use type that were designed for frequency response. The most important point is that I will use two of them, one each for left and right channels. Lastly, an additional small speaker will improve the directivity in high frequency range.

Good reproduction of low frequencies not only transmit music information correctly but also give us feelings of security and peace of mind. Contrarily, if the low frequency range is dull, the music will not stir us. We must achieve reproduction of natural low frequencies below 100Hz.

2001-120MT/AG driver made significant changes in the sound of small sized full range drivers. Silver foil diaphragm expresses each music note very clearly. We feel weight in its sound, but itis not overwhelming with a woofer. This is a new category of sound.
